Torremolinos, March 23, 2021.
On October 23rd 2020, the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Cultural Center in Torremolinos hosted the premiere of ‘MisfitSized Track 2’, a sequel fanfilm to the short film MisfitSized, directed by Torremolinos director Fran Campos. Since then, this medium-length film inspired by the cult cartoons Jem and the Holograms has not ceased to be successful.
As the director tells us, “the project was presented at Japan Weekend Madrid 2020, it had a premiere at JemCon United States in August with a great reception, and a premiere here in our land, Torremolinos, sponsored by the City Council of our city, and by Torremolinos TV, who dedicated us a wonderful special and on whose plates part of our project was filmed”.
Added to this is the selection of the film in January to participate in two international festivals, the Cefalù International Film Festival, Italy, and the Lift-Off Sessions International Film Festival, organized by Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom (responsible for the James Bond, Harry Potter or Star Wars sagas) and by the Rayleigh Studios in Hollywood (where classics such as 'What happened to Baby Jane?' by Bette Davis or the more current series 'Grey's Anatomy' were filmed).
In recent weeks, it has also been selected for the "24frames London Indie Short Festival". “For us this is like a dream and a value to our work, in which people of various nationalities have participated and even figures who work in Hollywood such as Café Noir, a VFX artist, among whose works are the advertising campaigns for "Wonder Woman 1984" or "Guardians of the Galaxy" who created our trailer with Marta Novoa from Malaga”, highlights Fran Campos.
This medium-length film inspired by the cult cartoons Jem and the Holograms has been selected for different international festivals.
The recognition is one more incentive for the new project in which the Torremolinos filmmaker has embarked, a work that we will also be able to see exclusively in the locality, thanks to municipal support. IVY is released in April, a new fanfilm based on one of the best known and least transferred characters in the DC Comics Universe, Poison Ivy.
It has been shot in various locations in Malaga and also in Torremolinos. It will premiere again at the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Cultural Center on April 16. A story that tells us about the relationship between the young botanist, Dr. Pamela Isley, and her mentor, Dr. Jason Woodrue, a relationship that will soon grow into something more personal and that will lead them to descend into the deepest and darkest of both, changing them forever.
The project features Laura Ávila ("MisfitSized Track 2") and Jorge Porras ("Toy Boy") in the leading roles of Dr. Isley/Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue, accompanied by journalist Roxanna Panero who makes her acting debut. and by stage and voice actor Javier Cereto in the roles of Wayne Biotech Director Lana Larson and Dr. Alec Holland respectively.
