Torremolinos, March 8, 2021.
The Torremolinos municipal library joins the celebrations of International Women's Day with the conference 'Women and power: the example of María Zambrano' that the sociologist María Antonia García de León gives this afternoon in the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Cultural Center from 5:00 p.m.
Presented by the writer Cristina Galán, the event aims to "value the contributions that the Malaga philosopher made to the development of society" and above all "to convey to the public that women are and have been in public and private spaces consolidating social achievements and that if they have not been more protagonists it is because they have tried to make their work and their talent invisible ”, said the Councilor for Culture, David Tejeiro.
The sociologist María Antonia García de León offers this talk at the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Cultural Center.
With her poetic thought, María Zambrano is one of the great figures of the 20th century who fought to defend a more just society, with rights and freedoms. Throughout her long career, she distinguished herself by seeking freedom and knowledge through her works, in which she combined philosophy, reason and poetry. Her production is charged with sensitivity, diversity and intelligence, embodied both in her essays and in her poetic work.
The capacity is limited, so she is advised to attend with enough time before the start of the conference. Likewise, it is recalled that there is a strict security protocol to avoid possible infections and that they require the use of a mask and distance inside and outside the building.
