Torremolinos, February 11, 2021.

The Councilor for Culture of the Torremolinos City Council, David Tejeiro, announced this morning the inclusion of Torremolinos within the Network of Theaters of Andalusia, a distinction that will allow “to bring to the municipality a greater number of quality shows and at the same time to position our town as a benchmark for the performing arts sector ”.

The Cultural Promotion area has opted to become part of this cultural revitalization program promoted by the Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Junta de Andalucía through the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, "as one more way to take advantage of the great potential of the Auditorium and put it in value, load it with content, bring the theater and shows to the local public and also promote our cultural programming at the Andalusian level,” said the councilor.

The mayor has highlighted that the entry into the Andalusian Network of Public Theaters opens up new possibilities to expand the offer of performing arts and also to meet the demands of this professional sector that will find in Torremolinos a first-rate infrastructure and great capacity.

The Councilor for Culture, David Tejeiro, highlights that this program "will allow us to continue promoting the performing arts in the municipality and provide quality to the Auditorium's programming".

The new programming to which the municipality will have access joins the shows already programmed by the City Council. With a grant of 7,000 euros, "now we have to draw up the calendar of performances with the selection of works that are made available to us and that exceed one hundred, all of them first-rate and among the most awarded in the different festivals of each specialty for a team of programmers from the Andalusian Network ”, as Tejeiro has indicated.

This recognition is part of a procedure that began in October 2019, with the fine-tuning of the facilities in order to comply with the requirements of the Junta de Andalucía. The head of Culture added that "we have managed to update the Auditorium Príncipe de Asturias in terms of safety and quality elements within the standards required for this type of venue in the 21st century."

Finally, Tejeiro has advanced that "the road does not end here, now the challenge of this council is to enter the national and international circuit so that soon our municipality can count on great stars of music and performing arts companies, Torremolinos must to be a cultural reference for the entire Costa del Sol and to recover the time that has been lost”.
