'Torremolinos Street Art' about street art to the youth of the municipality

The cycle organized by the Youth area includes graffiti activities, customizing T-shirts and urban dance.

Torremolinos, January 18, 2021. ’Torremolinos Street Art’ is the name of the new cycle of activities launched by the City Council aimed at the young population of the municipality. 'It is a proposal with which we want bring what this countercultural movement was and what it is now to young women and the youth of the municipality with workshops in which they will be able to experiment, learn and create', explained the Councilor for Culture, David Tejeiro, during his presentation.


The mayor has indicated that this first cycle aims to publicize the movement urban culture of hip hop and make street art understood 'as a value to protect and promote always encouraging respect for property where it is make this artistic expression.' It has also highlighted the museum character open air that Torremolinos is acquiring, where there are already a good number of graffiti, artistic discipline that is integrated into the whole of the culture that treasures the municipality, 'being therefore an element to promote and protect'.

 

A guided tour of these large street art murals is the first of the workshops to be held in ‘Torremolinos Street Art’. Will be next January 30 and the tour will be complemented with street exhibitions of another of the components of Hip Hop culture.

 

The other two activities, scheduled for February 13 and March 13, will be will focus on the realization of graffiti, the customization of t-shirts and dance urban. Both workshops will be held at the Municipal Booth of Associations and will be aimed, in principle, at a reduced group of participants, given that by the health crisis caused by Covid-19 'have been profound restrictions by the Department of Health and Family of the Board of Andalusia in terms of capacity '.


The Culture area has the collaboration of El Círculo Breaking, a non-profit sociocultural association, which is responsible for promoting the hip hop culture among the youth of the world through activities and events, and Street Art Málaga, specialized in discovering and showing the graffiti and mural movement that is happening in Malaga.
